The award was received on behalf of PRPC by General Manager of Utilities and Offsite Facilities, Hasnor Abdullah, from Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), YB Dato’ Sri Arthur Joseph Kurup, at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya.

PRPC attained the “Excellent Achievement” distinction in its first-ever participation, placing the company among the top performers nationally, reflecting the continued strengthening of its environmental management systems and operational controls.

PRPC Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Md. Shah Mahmood said, “When we developed the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC), where PRPC serves as the park manager, our focus extended beyond establishing refining and petrochemical operations. We also aimed to incorporate practical sustainability measures and responsible environmental practices that support long-term value for Pengerang and the wider community.”

Organised biennially by the Malaysia International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MICCI), the PMHA is the nation’s highest recognition for industries that demonstrate leadership in environmental excellence, exemplary stewardship in environmental management. This year’s edition recorded the highest participation since its inception in 1996, with 83 organisations competing nationwide.

PRPC’s approach to environmental excellence is anchored in disciplined operations, robust governance, and a culture that integrates sustainability into day-to-day decision-making. The company continues to strengthen compliance and enhance proactive environmental management to elevate performance standards across PIC in its role as park manager.

The Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award recognition reinforces PRPC’s position as a responsible industry player and sets a strong benchmark for environmental excellence.

Beyond operations, PRPC continues to support community and ecosystem programmes in Pengerang through #ForPengerang initiatives. These include initiatives to nurture local cooperatives, strengthen entrepreneurship, and build community capabilities.  Environmental efforts include planting 30,000 mangrove trees at Pulau Tanjung Surat, while educational initiatives in STEM and PLaN actively engage students at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tanjung Datuk and promote TVET programmes, preparing youths with broader options for future career pathways.
