JOHOR BAHRU, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Johor Plantations Group Berhad (JPG) has strengthened its strategic position in renewable energy through the consolidation of JPG Greenergy Ventures Sdn Bhd (JPGGV) as a wholly owned subsidiary, reinforcing the Group’s Greenergy growth pillar.

The consolidation follows JPG’s execution of a share sale agreement to acquire the remaining 45% equity interest in JPGGV from MTC Orec Sdn Bhd.

Established in 2019, JPGGV serves as the Group’s primary platform for renewable energy initiatives, including biomethane production, biogas upgrading and the conversion of palm oil by-products into low-carbon energy solutions. Full ownership provides JPG with clearer strategic direction and greater operational control over the development and scaling of its bioenergy portfolio.

The consolidation enables JPG to streamline execution, optimise capital allocation and integrate renewable energy more effectively into its core plantation operations. It also strengthens the Group’s alignment with Malaysia’s energy transition and national net-zero ambitions, while supporting long-term value creation through lower carbon intensity and diversified revenue streams.

JPG will continue to evaluate opportunities to expand its renewable energy and bioenergy capabilities in line with its long-term sustainability and growth strategy.
