KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) held its 24
th Convocation Ceremony on 13
th December 2025 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, celebrating the academic achievements of more than 1,500 graduates under the convocation theme “Breaking Through”. To accommodate the large graduating cohort, the ceremony was conducted in two sessions, reflecting the size and significance of the Class of 2025.
The ceremony was graced by His Excellency The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi Bin Tuanku Jaafar, who was accompanied by Her Most Gracious Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi as well as Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Works. In recognition of his distinguished public service, nation-building contributions and longstanding leadership across security, law, Parliament and ministerial portfolios, UNIRAZAK conferred upon His Excellency the Honorary Doctorate in Management.
Across both sessions, UNIRAZAK awarded 13 prestigious Graduation Awards, including the Chancellor’s Award, Vice Chancellor’s Award, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Award, Student Life Award, as well as a series of school and programme specific recognitions. More than ceremonial titles, these awards spotlight graduates whose journeys reflect the UNIRAZAK’s belief in holistic excellence, where academic strength is matched with leadership, service, initiative, and real readiness for the world beyond campus.
This year’s convocation adopted the theme “Breaking Through”, reflecting UNIRAZAK’s institutional resilience, forward momentum and commitment to broadening access to quality higher education. The theme underscores the university’s view that progress is measured not merely in years, but in key inflection points that redefine standards and open new pathways for students and partners alike.
The convocation also marks a “Year of Firsts” for UNIRAZAK, signalling significant institutional milestones. For the first time, 20% of the university’s student body consists of international students, underscoring UNIRAZAK’s emergence as a regional education hub and its strengthened focus on internationalisation.
In addition, the university celebrated the graduation of its first single-tier TVET cohort, a development that breaks traditional boundaries between academic and technical education and supports the national agenda to elevate Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) through more flexible, industry-relevant pathways. The ceremony also saw, for the first time, the graduation of 47 Bank Rakyat students, highlighting UNIRAZAK’s deepening collaboration with industry partners and its commitment to developing talent that is aligned with the needs of key economic sectors.
UNIRAZAK has recently been awarded the QS 5-Stars Excellence Rating, a globally recognised benchmark of institutional quality. n his convocation address, UNIRAZAK Pro-Chancellor YBhg. Dato’ Mohamed Nizam Bin Abdul Razak described the achievement as a defining moment for the institution, “
With this QS 5-Stars Rating, we have met the highest global standards in teaching, employability, inclusiveness, and internationalisation. More than a milestone; it is a breakthrough. It marks the beginning of a new chapter where UNIRAZAK stands confidently among the world’s best.”
The Class of 2025 has completed its studies in a period marked by rapid economic, technological and social change, and that the graduates are now poised to contribute meaningfully to Malaysia and the wider region in fields such as business, governance, technology, education and the social sector.
“
I hope our graduates will carry with them not only knowledge and skills, but also integrity, empathy and courage. In every sector they enter, they can open doors for others and to prove that breaking through is most meaningful when it lifts the community with you”, said YBhg. Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Samsinar Binti Md Sidin Vice Chancellor of UNIRAZAK.
UNIRAZAK bid a proud farewell to the Class of 2025, celebrating their transformation into graduates who have broken through barriers with an inspiring ceremony that honoured their dedication and achievements.
