KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 Bernama) -- The Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC) successfully organised the Professionalism & Ethics e-Forum 2025 with the support from the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF). As one of MFPC’s flagship events since 2017, this year’s event has recorded over 930 professionals attending virtually, was also co-organised by the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA), the Financial Planning Association Malaysia (FPAM) and the Malaysian Financial Planners and Advisers Association (MFPAA), reflecting a strong, united commitment to strengthening professional and ethical standards across Malaysia’s financial ecosystem.
 
The event commenced with an opening speech by Andy Ng Yen Hen, President of MFPC, who quoted, “Ethics is not a compliance burden; it is a competitive advantage,” which highlighted that trust, accountability, strong governance and responsible innovation are essential to ensuring Malaysia’s financial system remains sustainable, resilient and aligned with global standards.
 
The forum then continued with three high-impact sessions delivered by distinguished speakers, each addressing a critical dimension of ethics in the financial services sector. Marina Baharuddin (Financial Markets Ombudsman Service) discussed the importance of aligning regulatory safeguards with market innovation, whereas Dr Rozaidi Razali (Malaysian Institute of Integrity) emphasised that national integrity drives sustainable and ethical business practices. Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad Najib Wan Ahmad Lotfi (Takaful Ikhlas) stressed how Shariah-driven principles in Islamic finance can guide responsible conduct and balance profit with purpose.
 
The highlight of the event, a round table discussion entitled “Ethics in a Globalized World: Balancing Profit with Purpose”, moderated by Idham Idris (WealthVantage). The session assembled prominent industry leaders, including Datuk Wira Ismitz Matthew De Alwis (Kenanga Investors Group), Rangam Bir (AmMetLife Insurance Berhad) and Anil Singh Gill (Fintech Association of Malaysia). The panellists examined pressing issues such as ethical challenges in emerging technologies, evolving consumer expectations and cross-border regulatory alignment, offering insights on strengthening trust and accountability across financial services.
 
The event concluded with a closing remark by Dato’ Paduka Javern Lim, Chairman of the MFPC Ethics and Compliance Board, who commended all speakers, partners, and participants for their contributions to a meaningful and solutions-driven platform, reinforcing the forum’s crucial role in advancing Malaysia's professionalism and ethics agenda.
