The Living Arts Culture Festival (LACF) 2025, to be held from 3rd to 5th October 2025 at Lebuh Armenia, George Town, Penang, will gather participants from 10 countries
 
GEORGE TOWN, Penang, Oct 3 (Bernama) --  The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), through the Department of National Culture and Arts (JKKN), in collaboration with the Penang State Government and the National Pancha Seniloka Association (PANCHA), is proud to announce the launch of the Living Arts Culture Festival 2025 (LACF2025). This prestigious sixth-edition festival will transform the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lebuh Armenian, George Town, into a vibrant cultural showcase from October 3 to 5, 2025.
 
High-Level Recognition and Global Participation
The Official Launch of LACF2025 was officiated today by His Excellency The Governor of Penang, Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Hj Ramli Ngah Talib, alongside YBhg. Dato’ Shaharuddin Abu Sohot, the Secretary General of MOTAC. This marks the first time the festival has been held in Penang, signifying a strategic recognition of the state's cultural importance. The event features delegations from 10 nations, including Bulgaria, Philippines, Indonesia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Republic Korea, Thailand, and Uzbekistan, underscoring its pivotal role in soft diplomacy and international cooperation.
 
Core Mission and Unique Attractions
LACF2025 is organized under the powerful theme, ‘Sustainability of Cultural Heritage’, with a core mission focused on three pillars: upholding UNESCO-recognized intangible heritage, elevating national heritage, and spotlighting art forms requiring attention.
 
Cultural Gastronomy
Unique cultural offerings include Sarapan Malaysia (Malaysian Breakfast), a dish ritual recognized by UNESCO, allowing visitors to experience this cultural gastronomy firsthand.
 
Immersive Digital Content
The festival is energized by its digitalization component, featuring dialogues and workshops organized in collaboration with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), under the theme Living Culture, Digital Future.
 
Traditional Showcase
The programme features a diverse array of activities, including traditional performances, the Cultural Parade, handicraft exhibitions and sales, a Lantern Show, and the Pameran Mangkuk Tingkat (Tiffin Carrier Exhibition).
 
Strategic Impact and Legacy
The organization of LACF2025 is a crucial platform for cultural diplomacy and is poised to catalyze the cultural tourism sector. This initiative gives global recognition to Malaysian heritage, simultaneously solidifying the nation's identity as a regional arts and culture hub. The festival supports the National Culture Policy (DAKEN) by promoting digital exploration and cultivating appreciation among the younger generation.
