AT&S Strengthens Community Engagement in Kulim

AT&S Malaysia, the producer of high-end Integrated Circuit (IC) substrates for AMD’s data center processors and other customers, recently organized a community program in Kulim where the company operates, for stakeholder engagement.
KULIM, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd recently carried out a community program in Kulim with a focus on STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics). With the aim of deepening community engagement, AT&S organized a half-day program called “AT&S ‘Santuni’ Komuniti Kampung Seluang” (AT&S Cares for Seluang Village Community), at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Seluang (Seluang Village Primary School). The event was actively attended and supported by about 150 students, teachers, community leaders and AT&S employees.
“AT&S ‘Santuni’ Komuniti Kampung Seluang” was a purpose-driven community engagement program that was planned with two key objectives. The first was to raise the level of student interest in STEM to help develop more engineers and scientists for Malaysia. About 60 students were introduced to two types of hands-on STEM activities with the support of AT&S engineers. Additionally, AT&S donated a smart TV to support the school's e-learning and interactive learning programs.
“Community engagement is a top priority for our operations. We moved into the AT&S campus in Kulim Hi-Tech Park in 2024 and started high-volume manufacturing in May 2025. On behalf of the management, it is important to us to connect and stay engaged with you so that our neighboring stakeholders have a good understanding of our operations. We aim to organize similar engagement programs for you in the future,” said Sharifah Salmah Syed Harun, Senior Director of Human Resources, who officiated the event on behalf of AT&S Senior Vice President and Managing Director Malaysia, Suan See Yap.
Furthermore, the experts from AT&S HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ESG (Environment, Social and Governance), Security, and HR (Human Resources) held a “Sembang Komuniti” (Community Dialogue) with the community leaders. The session also served as a platform for interaction and feedback. During the session, AT&S provided updates on its operational status, including the achievement of globally recognized ISO certifications, ISO14001 and ISO45001, that underlined AT&S’s environmental and social commitments. This is a part of AT&S’s broader commitment to responsible development, ensuring that AT&S’s manufacturing operations are safe, sustainable, and aligned with stakeholder expectations.
The successful program was concluded with corporate gift exchanges between Syed Harun of AT&S and Mohd Azlan Jusoh, Penghulu Mukim Sungai Seluang/Padang Cina, and with Noriza Che Yahaya, the headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Seluang, followed by a prize presentation for the students who won the STEM program competition.
