KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) -- PETRONAS Gas Berhad (PGB) today launched TENANG: Healing Hearts, Rebuilding Lives’, a dedicated mental health and psychosocial support initiative under its PGBConnects’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework. The programme was developed to assist residents impacted by the April 2025 incident in Putra Heights, particularly those in Taman Putra Harmoni and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru.

Implemented in collaboration with Naluri and Hospital Putrajaya, and supported by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) Selangor, TENANG offers structured, confidential psychological support to over 455 households, addressing emotional needs that may continue long after physical recovery efforts are completed.

While physical rebuilding efforts have been prioritised over the past months, PGB recognises that recovery also involves addressing less visible yet equally critical aspects – the emotional and psychological wellbeing of those impacted. As part of its commitment to holistic recovery and care, TENANG was introduced to provide residents with a safe and accessible pathway to rebuild emotional wellbeing and regain a sense of stability.

“Recovery is not limited to the restoration of infrastructure – it’s also about restoring emotional strength and peace of mind,” said Abdul Aziz Othman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PGB. “Through TENANG, we are reaffirming our long-term commitment to the community’s wellbeing, not only through financial aid and support, but also through genuine care and compassion.”

Among the key features of TENANG is complimentary, 24/7 access to online counselling available from 16 July to 24 October 2025. Each verified resident is entitled to six private sessions, conducted in either Bahasa Melayu or English via Google Meet, with the flexibility to choose their preferred counsellor. Residents may register through a dedicated Careline or whatsapp, with household verification by JKM Selangor. In addition to individual sessions, group counselling sessions will also be offered, focusing on shared experiences and emotional support within the community.

Where further support is needed, Naluri will facilitate referrals to Hospital Putrajaya for specialist psychiatric care. All services will be provided by certified mental health professionals, with strict confidentiality protocols in place. No medical records will be shared with PGB.

This joint effort sees PGB funding the programme, Naluri providing the first-line of psychological care, Hospital Putrajaya offering clinical care for complex cases, and JKM Selangor facilitating participants’ eligibility. Local residents’ associations will also provide support by creating awareness through community engagement and outreach.

TENANG represents more than just a CSR commitment – it reflects our resolve to support recovery in all possible forms,” Abdul Aziz added. “We call on other organisations, civic bodies and stakeholders to come together - not just to rebuild homes, but to help restore lives, mental resilience, and hope within the community.”
