KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- AirAsia MOVE and The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) today announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing the travel experience for international medical tourists and their companions coming to Malaysia. Through this collaboration, healthcare travellers gain access to exclusive savings on flight-and-hotel packages, accommodation, and ground transportation, all seamlessly accessible via the AirAsia MOVE app.

Medical tourism involves more than the treatment patients receive. The convenience of travelling, arranging accommodation and coordinating the needs of accompanying family members can also shape the overall experience. Through this partnership, MHTC and AirAsia MOVE aim to address these complementary needs by connecting Malaysia Healthcare with travel services through AirAsia MOVE’s digital platform, adding value to the journey of eligible medical tourists and their companions.

The partnership brings together MHTC’s role in developing and promoting the Malaysia Healthcare brand with AirAsia MOVE’s digital travel ecosystem. By connecting the medical tourism sector with services beyond healthcare, the collaboration reflects a broader approach to strengthening Malaysia’s appeal as a medical tourism destination, where healthcare expertise is complemented by convenience, hospitality and a more connected visitor experience.

As part of the collaboration, eligible medical tourists can access exclusive promotional offers on selected travel services through AirAsia MOVE, providing practical benefits for patients and their companions during their visit to Malaysia. Leading the offers is up to RM150 off SNAP! flight-and-hotel packages, with a 7% discount and a minimum spend of RM1,000. Travellers can also save up to RM100 on flights with over 700 global airlines (excluding AirAsia-operated flights), with a 10% discount and no minimum spend, and up to RM15 on hotel bookings, with a 10% discount and a minimum spend of RM200. To complete the journey, travellers can access AirAsia Ride meet-and-greet services or enjoy discounts of up to RM9 on airport rides and RM2 on city rides.

Promotional codes will be exclusively distributed through  MHTC member hospitals, allowing eligible medical tourists and their companions to access the applicable offers through the AirAsia MOVE app.

YBhg. Dato’ Suriaghandi Suppiah, Chief Executive Officer of MHTC said, “Strengthening Malaysia’s medical tourism ecosystem requires collaboration beyond the healthcare sector. While clinical expertise remains central to Malaysia Healthcare, the overall experience also depends on how conveniently patients and their companions can travel, move around the destination and arrange their stay. Our partnership with AirAsia MOVE allows us to extend the Malaysia Healthcare proposition by offering  practical ways to support these needs. This is an important step in bringing together different industries to deliver greater value throughout the medical tourism journey and reinforce Malaysia’s position as the Preferred Healthcare Destination.”

For AirAsia MOVE, the collaboration expands its travel ecosystem to cater directly to the unique needs of medical tourists, connecting every touchpoint of their journey in Malaysia.

Lim Ben-Jie, Chief People and Partnerships Officer of AirAsia MOVE, said, “Malaysia is well positioned as a premier global medical tourism destination, and as a homegrown brand with extensive reach in the region, we are proud to support the sector’s continued growth. For medical tourists and families travelling here for treatment, a smooth journey makes a real difference, and that is where we come in. With our all-in-one app that simplifies flights, stays, and ground rides, AirAsia MOVE offers healthcare travellers and their families greater choice, outstanding value, and a hassle-free journey. Partnering with MHTC and its member hospitals is an exciting step forward in advancing Malaysia’s medical tourism growth.”

The collaboration also supports Malaysia Healthcare’s “Healing Meets Hospitality” narrative, which reflects the importance of combining healthcare expertise with a welcoming and supportive experience. By connecting healthcare with travel and mobility services, the partnership reinforces the role of cross-industry collaboration in making Malaysia’s medical tourism proposition more comprehensive and accessible, and contributes to the continued development of Malaysia’s medical tourism industry.
