KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (“EXIM Bank” or “the Bank”), a subsidiary of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad Group (“BPMB Group”), will strengthen Malaysian businesses’ capacity to compete internationally and adopt sustainable practices through over
RM1 billion in strategic initiatives mandated by the Government under the National Budget 2027. Malaysia’s global trade competitiveness depends on enterprises that can scale, diversify markets and invest sustainably. The more than RM1 billion mandated to EXIM Bank under the National Budget 2027 will support this progression through financing and export credit protection. Its specialised expertise will facilitate international expansion, contributing to BPMB Group’s broader mandate of more than RM7 billion in strategic initiatives entrusted by the Government. As Malaysia’s official export credit agency, EXIM Bank will draw on its capabilities and those across the Group to strengthen Malaysian exporters’ competitiveness and resilience, supporting the broader trade mandate of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (“MITI”), while prioritising measurable development impact, additionality and effective delivery under Bank Negara Malaysia’s Performance Measurement Framework (“PMF”).
Building Capacity and Expanding Export MarketsEXIM Bank’s export initiatives will support businesses as they build capacity, pursue overseas opportunities and manage the risks of international trade.
The
Local Acceleration and Growth Programme (300 million) will provide affordable financing to help manufacturers, service providers and local vendors expand capacity, improve productivity and strengthen competitiveness.
By supporting their participation in the value and supply chains of multinational corporations (“MNCs”) and leading local corporates, including those in strategic sectors under the New Industrial Master Plan (“NIMP”) 2030, the programme will strengthen domestic business capabilities and facilitate deeper integration into regional and global networks.
Building on this foundation, the
Export Leap Scheme (RM500 million) will help Malaysian entrepreneurs and exporters develop the capabilities and skills to enter new international markets or expand their existing presence, including in frontier and non-traditional destinations. The scheme will also support businesses in responding to heightened competition and rising costs amid global economic and geopolitical uncertainty.
To support this market expansion, the
Malaysia Global Connect (“MGC”) GoExport Cover (RM5 million grant) will provide aspiring and existing exporters with protection against commercial trade risks in new and non-traditional markets, enabling them to pursue overseas opportunities with greater confidence.
Financing Low-Carbon Business InitiativesAlongside export development, EXIM Bank will support Malaysian companies’ transition towards more sustainable operations through
Dana Kelestarian Alam 2.0 (RM400 million). The programme will finance low-carbon initiatives, helping businesses incorporate sustainability into their investments and operations while advancing Malaysia’s environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) objectives through responsible development finance.
