KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Generali Malaysia and Porsche Malaysia (represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance Sdn. Bhd.) have taken their partnership beyond the racetrack, by bringing road safety education to students through a community programme designed to promote safer road habits among young Malaysians.
The initiative builds on Generali Malaysia's sponsorship and strategic partnership with Porsche Malaysia in the Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia 2026. While the championship celebrates performance, precision, and skill on the track, the two organisations share a broader commitment to promoting responsibility and safer road use in everyday life. Held at Menara Generali as part of Generali Malaysia's Corporate Responsibility efforts, the programme introduced students from Suriana Welfare Society's PAL (Pathways to Achieve and Learn) Centres to practical road safety knowledge through a series of interactive activities and learning experiences.
The students explored the importance of staying alert around roads, understanding the risks of distracted walking, and practising safe habits as pedestrians, passengers, and future road users. Through hands-on activities, they learned how focus, good judgement and responsible decision-making can play a crucial role in keeping themselves and others safe.
A highlight of the event was a sharing session with Malaysian racing driver Naquib Azlan, who competes in the Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia, representing Team Porsche Malaysia in the #17 911 Cup. Drawing from his experience in motorsport, Naquib spoke about the importance of discipline, focus and control behind the wheel, and how these qualities are equally important when using public roads.
The programme also included a road safety awareness session conducted by the Malaysia Road and Transportation Safety Association (MRTSA), providing students with practical guidance on road safety and responsible road behaviour.
"Protection is at the heart of what we do at Generali, and it extends beyond insurance. By helping young people understand the importance of road safety and responsible decision-making, we hope to empower them to make safer choices for themselves and those around them. We are proud to partner with Porsche Malaysia to bring these important lessons to the next generation," said Fabrice Benard, Chief Executive Officer of Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad and Country Head for Generali entities in Malaysia.
“Motorsport is deeply embedded in Porsche's DNA, but beyond that, road safety remains a fundamental part of responsible driving. Through this collaboration with Generali Malaysia, we hope to inspire greater awareness among young Malaysians by equipping them with essential road safety knowledge and encouraging responsible habits from an early age. Education is the first step towards creating safer roads, and by reaching students today, we are helping to shape the drivers of tomorrow. We are proud to support initiatives like this and look forward to seeing its positive impact extend into the wider community,” shared Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance.
As part of the programme, students made personal road safety pledges, committing to actions such as using pedestrian crossings, wearing helmets and seatbelts, avoiding dangerous road behaviour, and encouraging their peers to stay safe. Students who completed all activities and made their road safety pledge were recognised as Road Safety Champions.
By combining the excitement of motorsport with practical road safety education, Generali Malaysia and Porsche Malaysia hope to inspire safer road habits and reinforce the importance of protection both on and off the track.
