SHAH ALAM, MALAYSIA, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Invest Selangor Berhad successfully concluded the inaugural SIBS@ASEAN Bandung Edition, held from 9 to 10 July 2026 at Pullman Grand Central Bandung, Indonesia. As the pilot edition of SIBS@ASEAN, the programme aimed to strengthen economic cooperation between Selangor and West Java while creating new opportunities for trade, investment, and strategic partnerships across ASEAN. 

The initiative was organised in collaboration with strategic partners from both Malaysia and Indonesia. These included the West Java Provincial Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP West Java), the Bandung City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP Bandung), the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the West Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN West Java), the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) Jakarta and West Java, the Rebana Metropolitan Management Agency, CIMB Niaga, and Bank BJB (Bank of West Java and Banten). The event also received the full support of the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur.

The two-day programme surpassed several of its key performance indicators, attracting 221 delegates from Malaysia and approximately 210 participants from Indonesia. A total of 74 companies from Selangor participated, representing strategic sectors such as aerospace, rail and mobility, property development, energy and utilities, technology, creative industries, medical tourism, and education. The programme successfully facilitated 237 business matching sessions, generating RM253.59 million in potential business value.

The Selangor delegation was led by YAB Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar of Selangor, accompanied by senior members of the State Government. This included YB Dato' Dr. Ahmad Fadzli bin Ahmad Tajuddin, Selangor State Secretary, YB Dato' Dr. Haniff bin Zainal Abidin, Selangor State Financial Officer, YB Tuan Ng Sze Han, EXCO for Investment, Trade and Mobility, and YBhg. Mej (K) Dato' Ts. Saipolyazan M Yusop, Group CEO, Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporation. Prior to the summit, the delegation conducted official courtesy visits in Jakarta with Yth. Ibu Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, Vice Minister of Trade, Republic of Indonesia, Yth. Bapak Faisol Riza, Vice Minister of Industry, Republic of Indonesia, and Yth. Bapak Pahala Nugraha Mansury, Managing Director Global Relations & Governance, Danantara Indonesia to reinforce bilateral cooperation at the federal level.

The summit officially commenced with Welcome Addresses from Yth. Bapak H. Muhammad Farhan, Mayor of Bandung and YB Mr. Ng Sze Han, Selangor State Executive Council Member for Investment, Trade, and Mobility, followed by Special Keynote Addresses by the leadership heads of both states: Yth. Bapak H. Erwan Setiawan, Vice Governor of West Java and YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor. The programme featured investment presentations highlighting opportunities in West Java and Selangor, alongside two high-level panel discussions focusing on strengthening the Malaysia–Indonesia supply chain and preparing ASEAN's future workforce.

One of the programme's key highlights was the signing of seven Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and one Letter of Intent (LoI), reflecting the growing strategic collaboration between institutions in Selangor and Indonesia. The MoUs included collaborations between: 
In addition, GreatAsic Technology and the Indonesia Chip Design Collaborative Center (ICDeC). This strategic partnership between GreatAsic Technology and the Indonesia Chip Design Collaborative Center (ICDeC) aims to accelerate the growth of the semiconductor ecosystem. To achieve this, the collaboration will focus on advancing talent development, driving research innovation, and working together on joint chip design initiatives.

Following the forum, delegates participated in sector-focused breakout sessions covering aerospace, rail and mobility, creative industries, energy and utilities, property development, and technology, providing businesses with direct engagement opportunities with potential partners and government agencies.

On 10 July, participating Malaysian companies joined industry site visits across West Java, gaining first-hand exposure to major investment projects and industrial ecosystems. The comprehensive itinerary covered diverse sectors, featuring aerospace sites such as PT Dirgantara Indonesia, PT Iter Aero Industri, and the Kertajati Aerospace Park, alongside rail and mobility hubs including the Bandung Metropolitan Urban Railways, LRT Bandung Regency, and Kereta Api Indonesia. Furthermore, delegates explored technological and creative at Bandung Techno Park, the Bandung Command Centre, Bandung Polytechnic for Manufacturing, PT Curaweda Palagan Innotech, Agate International, and Ayena Studio. The tour also showcased large-scale infrastructure and sustainability initiatives, namely the Grand Kertajati Aerocity Commercial & Industrial Area and West Java's floating solar project at the Cipanas Reservoir.

The trade and investment mission brought together 42 companies and agencies from Selangor, representing both the public and private sectors, including multinational corporations, government-linked companies (GLCs), technology firms, developers, aerospace companies, and state agencies.

Complementing the business mission, Invest Selangor, together with Tourism Selangor and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), organised the Selangor Medical Tourism and Education Expo. Featuring 32 exhibitors from Malaysia's healthcare, higher education, and financial services sectors, the expo further strengthened Selangor's position as a regional destination for quality healthcare, education, and investment.

The success of the inaugural SIBS@ASEAN Bandung Edition reinforces Selangor's commitment to expanding regional market access for its businesses, strengthening economic cooperation with Indonesia, and positioning the state as ASEAN's preferred investment destination. The programme successfully exceeded its initial targets for company participation and business matching sessions while opening new avenues for long-term collaboration across strategic industries.
