KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) -- UOB Malaysia has been named Best Bank and Best Sustainable Bank in Malaysia for the International category at the 30th Annual FinanceAsia Awards 2026 – Southeast Asia. Winning both titles for the second consecutive year, the recognition reaffirms the Bank’s commitment to driving meaningful contributions to Malaysia’s economic development, sustainability transition, and regional integration.

The FinanceAsia Awards recognise leading financial institutions that have demonstrated excellence, innovation and strong execution in serving clients and supporting market development.

Ms Ng Wei Wei, Chief Executive Officer of UOB Malaysia said, “We are deeply honoured to be recognised by FinanceAsia as Malaysia's Best Bank and Best Sustainable Bank for the second consecutive year. The recognition reflects the trust our customers and partners place in us, as well as the dedication of our colleagues in delivering value for the businesses and communities we serve.”

“Through purposeful partnerships, sustainable financing and our extensive ASEAN network, we remain committed to helping customers seize growth opportunities, advance their sustainability ambitions, and navigating an increasingly dynamic economic landscape with confidence.”

UOB Malaysia continues to strengthen economic connectivity through strategic partnerships across key growth corridors and business hubs, while linking foreign direct investment opportunities to local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). These include collaborations with Invest Johor to support investments into the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), as well as Invest Selangor and state government agencies in Sarawak to drive investment and economic development opportunities across their respective economic corridors. Reflecting its commitment to nation building and sustainable growth, the Bank played an active role in advancing the JS-SEZ, facilitating more than RM18 billion in foreign direct investments since 2024, while supporting critical water infrastructure initiatives to enhance long-term water security in Penang.

The Bank also expanded regional business connectivity through collaborations with business chambers and manufacturing associations in both Malaysia and Singapore. These partnerships enable the Bank to connect multinational corporations with local businesses, linking supply chains and cross border trade, and opening access to new growth opportunities across the region.

UOB Malaysia was also recognised for its leadership in advancing sustainability and supporting Malaysia's low-carbon transition. Through the collaboration with Bursa Malaysia on the Centralised Sustainability Intelligence (CSI) Solution and as co-chair of the SME Focus Group under the Joint Committee on Climate Change (JC3) alongside Bank Negara Malaysia, the Bank supported SMEs in building resilience, strengthening sustainability capabilities and advancing their transition to a lower-carbon economy.
